• What do we wear?
    • Be comfortable! Don't choose items you (and especially your children) will be tugging at all day. Kids need comfort!
    • Coordinate! Choose one or two colors and stick with those. You don't all need to match (in fact, I don't recommend it), but organizing your clothes around a central color scheme can really pull the photo together!
    • Avoid words and characters on clothing. The goal is to create a timeless photo you'll cherish for years.
    • Stick with basic patterns. Stripes, plaid, and dots are great, but don't mix them all in the same photo. You'll want a mix of solids with a few pops of pattern.
    • Think about  how you'll be using the photos; if you plan to enlarge a shot on canvas for your living room, don't wear a loud or mismatched color palette that you'd never want to hang on your walls!
  • How do I get my photos?
    • You'll get your retouched images digitally through an online album, usually within two weeks of your session. If you need them sooner, you can ask for rapid processing for a rush fee.
    • Once you receive the album link, you'll download the images straight to your computer! No waiting for a disc, no choosing from proofs; everything I send you is yours to keep (and print, and upload, etc!).
    • All images received will be high-resolution, perfect for enlargements.
  • Do I have to buy prints from you?
    • Nope! I am a member of an excellent photo lab that does astounding work. The prints and canvases are much higher quality than you'll find at drug store photo printers or consumer-based websites. Most of these sites use cheaply-made ink that will fade a bit with time. However, my lab's pricing does reflect the incredible quality you will receive. Please request a price list if you're interested.
  • What if my kid is a hot mess?
    • Most children don't really come around to participating in photo sessions until elementary school. While I always do my best to capture the sweet and candid moments your toddler will have, don't rule out a meltdown. Asking children to sit still for someone they've never met can be taxing on them. You can help by letting them know what to expect in advance if their age allows.
    • Bring snacks and favorite toys. When your treasured photos are on the line, no mom or dad is above bribery!
  • My family doesn't fit the typical mold... will you photograph us too?
    • Absolutely! I so enjoy working with people from all walks of life. Everyone's got a bit of crazy hiding in their family.
  • What if it rains?
    • In the case of inclement weather, we will always reschedule.  With the exception of newborn sessions, I try to avoid shooting indoors... quality images are made in great natural light! I can work in any condition, but to give you the best possible images, a drizzle-free day outdoors is preferred.
