December is here! There’s a chill in the air, and several major holidays are only a few weeks away! Check out my roundup of awesome events and activities going on this month around the northwest Atlanta area!

Fun for the whole Family

  • Santa’s Fantastical Wonderland Experience - December 1-29, tickets from $29.99, 1155 Mount Vernon Hwy, Sandy Springs, GA 30338 (in the former Babies R Us): This magical indoor event is fully immersive and showcases beautiful scenery, costumed live performances, games, light shows, and animation. Sure to bring out the kid in everyone.

  • Holiday Lights Celebration at East Cobb Park - December 8, FREE, 3322 Roswell Rd, Marietta, Georgia 30062: Gather at the park for this FREE event to celebrate the lighting of the giant Christmas tree. Santa and other performers will be hanging out as well. Proceeds from concessions benefit future park improvements.

  • A Country Christmas at Pettit Creek Farms - Through Dec 30, tickets from $20 per car, 337 Cassville Rd, Cartersville, GA 30120: This exciting light display is well worth the drive out of town. Guests can visit Santa and his reindeer, go on a hayride, and even see a live nativity!

  • Holiday Lights of Hope - December 5-23, $10 per adult, 14 and under FREE, Hobgood Park, 6688 Bells Ferry Rd, Woodstock, GA 30189: This enormous walk-through light display benefits the Anna Crawford Children’s Center. This is part of the Cherokee Child Advocates, a private, 501c3, non-profit, community-based organization dedicated to preventing child abuse and neglect.

  • Lights of Life - through December 31, tickets from $5 per car, 1269 Barclay Circle, Marietta GA 30060: In addition to thousands of holiday lights, visitors can also experience pony rides, a miniature ride-on train, and a petting zoo. This is a great bargain with admission being charged by vehicle, not per person.

  • Grand Opening of the Inclusive Playground at Swift-Cantrell Park - December 18, FREE, 3140 Old 41 Hwy NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144: This fantastic addition to the current playground is fully inclusive, meaning it has equipment and accessibility for children of all ability levels, including those in wheelchairs.

  • Menorah Lighting at Glover Park - December 28, FREE, Glover Park, 50 N Park Square, Marietta, GA 30060: Celebrate Hannukah with live music, dancing, free hot chocolate, and a gift card raffle. Sponsored by Congregation Ner Tamid of Marietta/ West Cobb.

  • Get a reservation at the Garden Room- This is Atlanta’s hottest new restaurant, currently booking out to late January… pop on over to their website to snag a table for your and your sweetheart or gal pals.   • Marietta Pilgrimage Home Tour - December 7-8, tickets from $30: History lovers will swoon over the chance to tour 6 private homes in the gorgeous Forest Hills historic district. Each home has been lovingly restored and impeccably decorated for Christmas. See why this outing was featured in Southern Living.   • Marietta Square Christmas Market - December 21: Finish up your holiday shopping at what AJC voters called “The Best Town Square in Atlanta.” After you’ve checked off everyone on your nice list, grab a pint at Glover Park Brewery or some artisan treats from the farmer’s market. 39-75 E Park Square, Marietta, GA 30060
